Amina Lamarre (also known as Amina Lamarre-Delafoulhouse) is a pioneering French-African businesswoman, hospitality entrepreneur, and fashion designer who has made a significant cultural impact within Hong Kong’s entertainment and lifestyle industries. Originally born in Cameroon, she has spent decades bridging the gap between African heritage and East Asian commerce, establishing herself as a vital cultural ambassador in the region.
She is best known as the visionary founder and principal owner behind Hong Kong's very first authentic Afro-Caribbean hospitality ventures. In the mid-2000s, Lamarre launched the groundbreaking Nzingha Lounge on Peel Street in SoHo, Central, which later evolved into the highly celebrated Makumba Africa Lounge. Designed to introduce the city to the rich sub-Saharan region, the venue became a legendary hub for live Afro music, traditional food, and cultural gatherings.
Through her venues, Lamarre successfully shifted local perspectives by introducing international Afro-music icons—such as Youssou N'Dour and Salif Keita—to the Hong Kong nightlife scene.
